Artifact: Professional Learning Plan
Reflection:
For this assignment, completed for ITEC 7460 Professional Learning and Technology, I developed an hour-long instructional technology workshop and evaluation. I used the ADDIE model for designing, developing, and implementing this workshop. This professional development session consisted of a Needs Assessment, Agenda, PowerPoint Presentation, and Evaluation.
This artifact shows mastery of the standard because it shows the development and implementation of technology-based learning. The training I provided onEdmodo is aligned with a variety of technology standards such as communication, use of technology with students, and classroom management. Since it is already used by many students and staff in the school, support is already in place. The nature of the tool also makes it an excellent example of face-to-face mixed with online components; modeling principles of adult learning; and best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment. There are groups that can be connected with that provide information for best practices and technology tools for the classroom.
I learned a great deal from completing this artifact, especially because there were many components I had never experienced prior to this program. Although it was a lot of work, I felt it was a great experience and can see me doing this again in the near future. One thing I would like to do to improve on this experience is to apply it school-wide now that I have the knowledge and practice using it in the classroom.
This experience has had an impact on the Connections department at my school by informing other teachers in the department on Edmodo. Most of the teachers had never heard of it and by the end of the session every one of the teachers had their own Edmodo page and were experimenting with the features. Many times professional development fails because of a lack of support after the session is finished. I made myself available to support any of the teachers one-on-one support if needed, including teachers not in the Connections department.
