Artifact: LGPE Prsentation - Camtasia Professional Development Artifact (also see below Reflection)
Reflection:
To meet the requirements for this standard, I took part in professional development offered at my school on Camtasia. This professional development included two all day sessions and required application of the tool and implementation in our classrooms. Participants in this grant-funded professional development were also required to serve computer lab time assisting students in the morning before school.
This artifact demonstrates continued learning outside the realm of the master’s program. I used this training to make video lessons for my Capstone project and for my classroom. This artifact demonstrated using data collected from our Large Group Performance Evaluation and shows areas we need to work on to improve. I feel students were able to better understand areas of strength and weakness by watching this video.
I have learned to apply a new technology in my practice with success. Today’s students learn better through multimedia applications and using Camtasia can help these students get concepts on their terms and their styles of learning. Camtasia has many features I have not fully explored yet and plan on continuing to use this application in my practice and learn the various features to improve the quality of my lesson videos.
I believe this artifact has made a difference in my classroom, especially. I plan to create lesson videos and using them in a flipped classroom environment by posting the videos on Edmodo. I know of other teachers who use Camtasia at my school, who also participated in the training and whose students are benefitting from this technology.
